Jonathan Pennington, MBA, RPIH, CSP

JP is a principal consultant who has been involved in the safety and emergency response field since 1992. He teaches adjunct for a research university in their occupational health and safety program. Jonathan's research has been published in the United Kingdom. He has provided consulting and on-site services throughout the United States and in Mexico. He is currently board certified as a safety professional and registered as a professional industrial hygienist. JP also has completed technical training and worked in heavy industry and the U.S. fire service as a certified commercial diver, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Journeyman Carpenter and as a Certified Chief Fire Officer. Jeremy Jones, AAS, CIHM

Jeremy  is a principal industrial hygiene consultant who has been involved in the health and safety field since 2008. He has consulted in various areas of industry. Jeremy has worked as a member of industrial hygiene teams that provided post plant explosion sampling in the surrounding communities and industrial hygiene sampling during large turnaround projects. He has also been part of high-angle emergency response services for power house chimney projects ranging up to 600 feet. He's also a Certified Mobile Crane, Overhead Crane and Rigging Equipment Inspector through the Crane Institute of America. Jon  is a principal fire protection consultant who has been involved in the fire protection field for over 30 years. Jon retired as a professional fire fighter with 26 years of service. He has been involved in chemical manufacturing as an engineer and plant manager for more than 30 years. Patty Lane, MS, MHN

Patty is a staff health and wellness consultant for Health and Safety Sciences, LLC. She is also a prevention specialist that supervisors staff in nine states for a Nationally Recognized Program whose mission is to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity.  Prior to accepting this position, Ms. Lane assisted over 100 schools throughout Kentucky in creating a healthier school environment.  Patty holds a Masters in Exercise Physiology/Cardiac Rehabilitation from Virginia Tech and a Masters in Health Management from St. Thomas University in Miami, FL.  Patty began her career in Ft. Lauderdale as Wellness Coordinator for Holy Cross Hospital.  She later worked with a large Health Maintenance Organization, before becoming an employee wellness coordinator for Southern Bell in South Florida.  Her work has largely focused on prevention and she has seen first hand the impact that nutrition and fitness has on individuals and organizations. Kyle Fekete, BS

Kyle is a Fire & Safety Consultant, serving the HSS Louisville office as the Louisville Services Coordinator. He has been involved in the health and safety field since 2005 and in the fire service since 2001. He holds a bachelors degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Fire & Safety Engineering Technology and is currently pursuing a M.S. in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University. Kyle is a Sergeant with the Louisville Fire Department. He is assigned to a tactical rescue company, which provides high-angle, dive, confined space and other technical rescue services to Louisville and the surrounding area.

Aaron Jarrell

Aaron is a Fire & Safety Consultant for HSS in the Louisville office. He has been in the fire service since 1997 and is currently a Captain with the Louisville Fire Department. Aaron has worked in the fire safety field for over 20 years with the Louisville office of Professional Fire Extinguishers Sales and Service, Inc., a fire extinguisher, sprinkler, special hazards, fire alarm and life safety/code consulting company. Michael F. Schirtzinger

Mike is a licensed private investigator and security analyst for HSS. He has over fifteen years’ experience in law enforcement, state and local court system, and firefighting. Mike currently serves as a Firefighter with a municipal fire department in addition to his role with Health and Safety Sciences. Mike is a 1998 graduate of the Eastland Police Academy in Groveport, Ohio. During his time in law enforcement, Mike earned certification as a law enforcement instructor by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy. Jeff J. Crews, BS, EMT-B

Jeff is a professional safety consultant who has been involved in the health and safety field since 1991. Possesses experience in law enforcement, security, and tactical operations. Certified rescue technician with emphasis in: confined space rescue, high-angle rope rescue, swift water rescue, and dive rescue. Instructor certifications include: Eastern Kentucky University, OSHA, American Heart Association, ASHI, Kentucky EMT, CCDW, and IFSAC (level 2). He has spent more than a decade in the US Army as a military instructor, helicopter pilot, safety officer, and more. Caleb is a safety technician for HSS. He specializes in construction safety. Caleb has completed a 40 hour welding course and a 10 hour OSHA course for General Industry.

Todd Selvage

Todd is a safety technician for HSS and has over 5 years fire service experience. He currently serves as a Firefighter with a municipal fire department. He specializes in industrial fire and site safety. Todd is certified as a confined space rescuer, First Aid/CPR/AED, rescue diver and firefighter. Health and Safety Sciences, LLC, (HHS) works with Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) to reduce work-related medical expenses. OLBH provides pre-employment drug screenings, employee physicals, wellness programs and medical management options using board certified safety professionals. OLBH works with HHS to provide on-site drug screenings and physicals by appointment to its industrial client base.

HSS can provide union staffed confined-space rescue teams & rescue equipment, fire watches, fresh air watches and PRCSE attendants to assist with manpower needs during outages and turnarounds. All of HSS's union service providers have received additional training that qualifies them for their assigned task.

Port Security Diving Services

HSS offers marine security diving services and underwater investigation services to industrial and government clients. HSS divers hold Public Safety Diving certifications through the Public Safety Diving Association and Water Rescue, Inc. and hold qualifications in underwater investigations.

HSS will inspect your vessels, ports, harbors, bridges, and other marine structures to ensure they have not been damaged or tampered with utilizing surface-supplied apparatus and SCUBA apparatus. The health and safety of your employees and visitors to marine facilities is of great importance to you and your organization.

HSS has the ability to investigate underwater failures of industrial systems and workplace fatalities involving waterborne environments. It is important to have qualified and experienced providers of underwater accident and failure investigations to ensure the facts are properly uncovered and that similar events do not occur in the future.

Health and Safety Sciences, LLC is an approved Public Safety Diving (PSDA) and Water Rescue, Inc. training agency for Public Safety Diver Level I Courses. PSDA & Water Rescue, Inc. has been training Public Safety Officers since 1972 and have developed a world renowned name for comprehensive public safety diver programs.

HSS’s lead public safety diving instructor is JP Pennington. Jon is a designated Chief Fire Officer through The Center for Public Safety Excellence and is a Member Grade of the Institution of Fire Engineers.
